DISTANCE LEARNING PROGRAMME (6-month e-class) WATER MICROBIOLOGY THE PROGRAMME IS ALSO OFFERED IN GREEK AIM - To impart a thorough understanding of issues related to the evaluation of microbiological quality of water intended for a number of different uses; - To demonstrate laboratory techniques for the detection of bacterial indicators of water quality and selected pathogens; - To explain the use of GIS in water quality issues; - To examine issues on management of water quality (drinking, sea, swimming pools, waste and underground waters) TOPICS - Environmental Microbiology • Microbiology of drinking water, sea and inland waters, pool and spa, wastewater - Water reclamation and reuse • Detection methods including molecular techniques - Use of GIS Technology - ISO22000 (HACCP) applications in industry - Risk Assessment in water distribution - Waterborne infectious diseases and epidemiology - Accreditation of water microbiology laboratories APPLICANTS should have a degree or substantial work experience in a relevant field FEES Normal fees: 800€ Postgrad students : 600€
