  1. Geothermal energy

  2. Where It comes from Geothermal energy, in short, comes from heat stored in the ground from a collision 4.5 billion years ago. (the reason why its still hot is that the outer layer cooled and hardened, creating an insulator for the heat in the middle.)

  3. How It Works

  4. Sustainability Geothermal energy is actually a very sustainable method of generating electricity; As long the earth continues to keep seep heat, (which it has for approx. 4.5 billion years) there will always be the possibility that is geothermal heat, however…

  5. Its limitations While its true that anywhere in the world if you drill deep enough you can get the heat necessary for effective geothermal energy, but to drill that far down costs a lot of money and takes a lot of time. So! Geothermal plants are usually built near the “ring of fire” as shown in the picture. Its called the ring of fire because of the volcanic trenches that lie underneath.

  6. Uses For Geothermal energy People have been using Geothermal energy for an extremely long time in the form of hot springs (mostly for bathing), but due to technology’s advancement there are now more efficient and even some completely different ways of utilizing it. Such as Electricity generation and heating.

  7. Advantages They can power large Power Plants Does not require fuel Very sustainable 1. Release’s slightly harmful gases, but they are easily contained . Need to find a build sight The extraction may stop in 10 years. Disadvantages

  8. Jobs Associated with Geothermal Energy Project Development Engineer Renewable Power Engineer Field Construction Engineer Renewable Energy Consult Solar Innovation Manager Energy Project Manager

  9. History of Geothermal energy History of Geothermal energy can be traced back 10,000 years to the American Paleo-Indians at their settlement in the hot springs. It is believed that the first usage of Geothermal energy was in the late 18th century somewhere near Pisa, Italy. The world's first Geothermal power station was built in 1911 in Larderello, in Southern Tuscany, Italy.
