Your treasurer’s conclusions • We are ending this year in the black ONLY because matching Endeavor Fund grants came in, some from last year, and because of the big fundraiser. • The amounts given by the membership as a whole are NOT enough to maintain the building, educate the children, provide the spiritual leadership to nurture us all, and handle all the mundane tasks needed to maintain the congregation. Many things are not done as well as they should, or do not get done at all, for lack of skilled, willing volunteers or money to pay for the skills. Bookkeeping is just one example. • The maintenance recommended dues/contribution levels are just what is needed to maintain what is being done and how, and works only if EVERYONE contributes that amount. Not everyone is able to, so please contribute as much as you are able. The annual pledge forms will be coming out next month.
Our dues system for FY18/19 • Two years ago, we moved to a voluntary support dues model • Just to remind you, in this system members are expected to set their own commitment level and pledge their support based on an honest self-assessment of their ability to contribute • It costs roughly $1,350 per household to keep our doors open • We ask that each family pledge at least 3% of your annual Gross Household Income. Example:
Summary • To have good financial health we need participation from everyone – both with monetary contributions and participation in fundraising efforts. • Remember that WE are the ones that make this congregation, not the building, so when you participate in our events you enrich everyone else’s experience as well. • Thank you for your support and enthusiasm for our Temple!
