  2. Objectives • To synthesize the outcomes of the respective tasks in the previous WPs • To prioritize the identified research needs and gaps and • To link them with EU and international funding programs supporting research and knowledge transfer - Page 2 -

  3. Expected Results • Clearer picture of the EU and other international funding sources (programmes, funds, international and corporate banks) • Describe under which terms the participating developing countries and / or emerging economiescan benefit - Page 3 -

WP5.1 - Overview of EU and international funding program • Start Month 1 – Finish month 6 • The established EU and international funding programs that support research and knowledge transfer on climate change issues were investigated • Each programme was reviewed with regard to relevant research topics, countries and activities that it funds and its requirements for funding. - Page 5 -

EUROPEAN REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT FUND (ERDF) • Objective 1: to promote the development and structural adjustment of regions whose development is lagging behind; • Objective 2: to support the economic and social conversion of areas experiencing structural difficulties; • Objective 3: to support the adaptation and modernisation of education, training and employment policies and systems in regions not eligible under Objective 1. • Funding: • Direct aid to investments in companies (in particular SMEs) to create sustainable jobs; • Infrastructures linked notably to research and innovation, telecommunications, environment, energy and transport; • Financial instruments (capital risk funds, local development funds, etc.) to support regional and local development and to foster cooperation between towns and regions; • Technical assistance measures.

Task WP5.2 - Prioritization of research needs and gaps start (M23) • Start Month 23 – Finish month 31 • The outcomes of tasks 1.5, 2.4, 3.7 and 4.4. will synthesized • The most common and significant research needs and gaps in information, using models, developing scenarios and policy portfolios and identifying effective M/A policy will be presented • Link to information about EU and international funding programs that can support and assist countries in facing these research gaps and needs will be provided • The conditions under which terms the participating emerging economies can benefit will be described - Page 11 -

ROLES OF PARTNERS • The Lead Beneficiary Participant of the task is BSREC • The partners TUBITAK MAM, SRIE-ESC, UB-FMG, IPE ASM, FA, ISPE, PUT, GPOGC, ESEMI, KAZHIMINVEST, TUT will provide information about their countries • All partners (from Hellas and Austria including) will share their experience in using international sources of funding - Page 12 -
