  3. Roy Lichtenstein's Influences • Influenced by the teaching of Hoyt L. Sherman • Holy L. Sherman was a late Fauvist (French) painter, designer and architect • Introduced class to modernism during American scene painting era • He adopted a series of different artistic techniques. First, Picasso’s style of the 1940, then to Rococo motifs, and finally turning to abstraction in 1958 in a late variation of Action painting.

  5. Roy Lichtenstein’s work • During the early 1950's, Lichtenstein became interested in mass-produced commercial illustrations, especially comic strips and advertisements. He began to isolate single products and single frames of comic strips onto canvas’s • Lichtenstein painted such subjects as plants, beautiful women, and wild animals.

  12. Why did I pick Roy Lichtenstein? • I picked Roy Lichtenstein because I loved the use of simple colors • Also the comic/industrial look of the paintings • The black and vibrant colors of the painting really caught my attention when I first saw it

  13. How do I plan to paint like Roy Lichtenstein • Use simple yet vibrant colors to attract the eye • Individually paint every dot on the girls face • Use graphing method to transfer my piece over to my canvas
