WHINSEC WHO: Cadet Jade Schmitt WHAT: Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation (WHINSEC) WHEN: 7 July- 9 Aug 2013 WHERE: Fort Benning, Georgia SUMMARY: This past summer Cadet Jade Schmitt spent her time training with South American Cadets in the program WHINSEC. This is the first time that University of Wyoming Army ROTC has sent a Cadet to this particular school. The course consisted of tactical maneuvers, leadership reaction courses, Ranger obstacle course, combat water survival test (CWST), night and day navigation, and human rights. WHINSEC is considered a Special Ops school due to all the extensive training. While Cadet Schmitt was in FT. Benning she was placed as the Company Commander of all 132 cadets. This was a very difficult position due to the language barrier and the different culture. Cadet Schmitt was able to excel in all events. She scored a 275 on her physical fitness test, qualified the first round, and passed the CWST. Based off of her scores and leading performance she was able to make the Commandants list and receive the Leadership Award. Cowboy Strong!
