  2. Childhood • He was born on April 23, 1564 • He was baptized three days later • He was born in the Stratford area • His family was prosperous and dealt in farm products and wool • Out of the eight children he was the third oldest

  3. Adulthood • On November 28, 1582 he married Anne Hathaway • He was married at eighteen years of age • On May 26, 1583 William and Anne had their first child, Susanna • On February 2, 1585 they had twins, Hamnet and Judith • One of the twins, Hamnet died at the age of 11, on August 11, 1596

  4. Poems • William Shakespeare called himself a poet • He and others became poets to become famous • Shakespeare composed his sonnets from 1593 and 1601 • His sonnets were published in 1609 • The Sonnets of Shakespeare contains 154 sonnets • His sonnets portray an image of beauty, love and the inescapable end of time.

His impact on society • He brought forth many works that have been read throughout the centuries • His writings were well known and were a reason many people went to the theater • His works were very popular and people started using his phrases in there everyday speech • The theater also allowed people who were born into a low class family make large sums of money and become well known because of their dexterity and not bloodline
