SACS Plan for Statewide Review of VCT VCT Coordinator’s Meeting May 22-23, 2006
Good News No mention of on-site visits!
4-Step Review Process 1. Review the entire Single Compliance Certification • SCC is the entry to individual college ACC’s 2. Review the entire ACC of 11 randomly selected colleges, based upon student participation in VCT. Includes 5 substantive-change colleges. Purpose: • To verify the validity of the information in the Single Compliance Certification. (SSC and ACC info must match!) • To identify items for which more than 1 college is non-compliant. Note: Step 2 is broken into two steps in the plan as presented by SACS: (1) review 5 colleges; (2) review 6 colleges
4-Step Review Process 3. Review in ACC’s of the remaining 32 colleges all non-compliance standards identified in the 11-college review. In other words: • the problematic standards will be reviewed at all colleges. 4. Write recommendations for all non-compliance standards found at each college. In effect, the review committee will review all individual ACC’s through the Single Compliance Certification. (Info must match!)
Committee’s Schedule 9/1 – 9/15: Review the Single Compliance Certification 9/18 – 9/25: Review the full institution-specific Compliance Certifications of 11 colleges 10/2 – 10/13: Review the institution-specific Compliance Certifications of remaining 32 colleges 10/16 – 10/27: Complete report and transmit to colleges
Review Committee Composition Chair: 1 Academic programs: 6 Institutional effectiveness: 3 Student services: 3 Library services: 3
Committee’s Report • Recommendations resulting from non-compliance of “VCT methodologies,” (VCT Host-Provider Model, governance, etc.) will impact all 43 colleges. • Other recommendations will impact only the individual institutions that are non-compliant in regard to specific standards.
The Rest of the Story • April 17: Colleges must respond to recommendations. (Coordinated by VCT) • May 15, 2007: Debriefing report must be available to the Commission on Colleges. • June 2007: Review Committee’s report, institutions’ responses, and the chair’s evaluation of the responses will be before a Compliance and Reports Committee of the Commission at its meeting.
Coordinators’ Role in Review Review your college’s Compliance Certif. • Confirm that the college’s VCT practices are represented fully and accurately.
