History of Handbook – cont. • October 2008 - revision finalized • January 1, 2009 – was submitted to DOE • Back to the drawing board • 2010 - revised Electrical Safety Handbook, 2 new chapters • Added equipment approval and hazard classification • 2010 – 2013 editing, code referencing, reorganization, REVCOM • 2013 published, two new EFCOG chapter pushed to appendices, controversial (it took 6 years to revise) • 2016 EFCOG working group, plan how to proceed • 2018 EFCOG – this update

2016 Working Group Goal • To eliminate code repetition • eliminate sections that are a repeat of existing codes and standards (NEC, 70E, NESC) • this shifts the focus to an R&D handbook • Reorder the handbook to include all material in main body, in a manner that flows • To brainstorm new sections • To consider options for a path forward for publication
