What is the AUC? • AUC - Apple University Consortium • 1984 - Apple entered into a partnership with 9 Australian universities to form the AUC (Australia) • Now - 32 Australian University Members 5 Associate Members and 1 International Member (India) • http://www.auc.edu.au/About+the+AUC
What is the AUC? • Major motivating factors: • Departments, staff & students could obtain Apple technology at reduced prices • Enable development of innovative solutions using Macs • Sharing information and experiences • Fostering educational development activities
What is the AUC? • Totally independent of Apple • Governed by member Universities • Operates its own programs on its own behalf

Training Programs • Technical • Subsidised training courses for technical staff in Apple tech • Generally 2-4 days in length in major capital cities • 4 subsidised places each year, includes travel and accommodation
Training Programs • Developer • Training programs for Mac OS X Developers, basic courses as well as courses on specific topics • Python/Objective C • Ruby for Mac OSX • REALBasic • Cocoa • Xcode
Training Programs • Creative • AUC is trying to develop Workshops for the Creative space • PodCasting • HD Video etc
Conference • Major conference every 24 months in conjunction with a member University. Over 200 University staff, academics and students • Keynote speakers indicate major Apple directions and innovations • Presentations from local presenters on a wide range of subjects • Next one in Canberra 27-30 Sep 09
