  2. Purpose of the Data Entry Menu • Automates launch of data entry application • Enforces file naming convention • Automates file transfers • Ensures only one version of CSPro open at any one time by creating justone.txt on entry to the system, and deleting it upon exit of the system

  3. Starting The Data Entry Menu • Create a shortcut on the desktop to entry_menu.pff • First screen asks data entry operator to enter a cluster number CCC • The main menu appears as follows:

  4. Main Entry, Menu Option A • Purpose: • add questionnaires to a cluster’s main data file • you cannot access or modify previously-entered questionnaires with this option • Actions • adds cases to file DATA\MCCC.DAT

  5. Main Entry, Menu Option M • Purpose: • modify questionnaires in a cluster’s main data file • you cannot add questionnaires with this option • Actions • modifies cases in file DATA\MCCC.DAT

  6. Main Entry, Menu Option T • Purpose: • transfer a cluster’s main data file to the supervisor’s computer • backup work overnight • Actions • copies file DATA\MCCC.DAT to a flash drive or network

  7. Verification Entry, Menu Option R • Purpose: • add questionnaires to a cluster’s verification data file • you cannot access or modify previously-entered questionnaires with this option • Actions • adds cases to file VERI\VCCC.DAT

  8. Verification Entry, Menu Option U • Purpose: • modify questionnaires in a cluster’s verification data file • you cannot add questionnaires with this option • Actions • modifies cases in file VERI\VCCC.DAT

  9. Verification Entry, Menu Option V • Purpose: • transfer a cluster’s verification data file to the supervisor’s computer • backup work overnight • Actions • copies file VERI\VCCC.DAT to a flash drive or network

  10. DE Menu: Option N • Purpose: • allows operator to begin on a new or previously-keyed cluster • Actions • changes value of CCC • confirms this with display of new cluster number on screen

  11. DE Menu: Option Q • Purpose: • quit data entry menu gracefully • Actions • closes CSPro • deletes file justone.txt

  12. Data Entry Navigation Short Keys While entering/editing a case: • Go To… (F6) • Advance To End (F10) • Insert Group Occurrence (F3) • Insert Group Occurrence After (Ctrl+F3) • Delete Group Occurrence (F4)

  13. Modify and Partial Save • To modify a case: • choose modify from data entry menu (M or U) • double-click on the case you want to modify • press F10 when finished editing and ready to exit the case • Partial save: • if allowed, saves a case before entry of the questionnaire(s) is finished • exit data entry application, choose partial save • To complete: choose modify mode, double-click on case, and finish entering questionnaire’s data

  15. Changing from Network to a Flash drives • For some countries, data entry computers will not be networked • Data copied to a flash drive instead of shared drive • If this is the case in your country: • go through the data entry menu application • make changes indicated by the comment!!! network !!!

  16. Modifying the Data Entry Menu • Change language in errmsg and display functions • Change language in accept function • Provide proper range for cluster numbers in PROC ECLUSTER (look for !!! cluster !!!)
