Low-cost generic diagnostic platform • Label-free ligand/receptor binding using immobilised bioreceptor on impedimetric transducer • Suitable for a broad range of detection • Bacteria • Virus • Aptamers and DNA/RNA hybridization • Suitable for a broad range of sample • No sample pre-treatment required (whole blood) • Biological fluids • Aqueous samples • Rapid testing (< 5 mn) • Sensitivity: Large dynamic range: 0.1 pg/mL to 1 µg/mL
Main achievements Sampling of blood sample on transducer Incubation & ligand/receptor binding Washing Detection • Detection of D-dimer has been demonstrated in whole blood from a patient • Results were matching those obtained with conventional bench-top system (Pathfast) • Ultra-low level of non-specific binding • Large dynamic range: 0.1 pg/mL to 1 µg/mL (larger using CNT or Gold nanoparticles) • TotalTime for analysis (theory <5 mins) • Potential of multiplexing diagnostics • E-Health enabled portable Reader Nyquist Plots for varying model [Ag] Dynamic range: 100pg/ml – 100ng/ml, Opt. temp. 250C
Diagnosing DVT • D-dimer is accepted as a clinical biomarker of recent clotting • It is one of the smallest antigens found in human and animal blood • It results from the degradation of cross-linked fibrin formed during clotting and is hence indicative of clotting • The critical diagnostic concentration level of D-dimer is 500 ng/mL in whole blood. • The critical level used does vary from clinic to clinic • For patients with low risk factors for DVT, a normal d-dimer levels can be used to exclude DVT
Applications This generic platform is compatible with multiplex testing. 5 analysis can be done in parallel More analysis could be performed if required. It opens the field to a broad range of applications: • POC diagnostic • Environmental, Food and Water monitoring • Defence and Security • Pre-incident screening (e.g. detection of explosives, drugs, toxins, bio warfare agents at airports etc) • Post-incident forensic analysis and diagnostics
