What Is It? • The planet Uranus is a gas giant. • It is the seventh planet in space from the sun. • Uranus has thin clouds moving quickly around it.
Inside Uranus • Part of Uranus is a soupy layer of ice and gases. • Uranus does not have solid surface. • The core of ice and rock is deep in the middle inside the planet.
How Uranus Moves • A day on Uranus is about 17 Earth hours. • It rotates as it revolves around the sun. • It is the only planet to rotate in it’s side.
Uranus Moons and Rings • The moon Umbriel has it’s only mark that looks like a doughnut that you eat. • It has 27 moons and 11 rings around it. • The rings are made up of dust and ice.
A Closer Look at Uranus • A spacecraft can not go on Uranus because it has no solid surface. • On a trip the spacecraft discovered 10 new moons of Uranus. • In 1886 the spacecraft came to close to Uranus.
