Dictatorship – ruled by a single ruler • Gains power by force or military
Military government – army seizes power from a weak government. • Power held by one or more military
Multiparty Democracy – people are given the choice to elect candidates from several parties. • Constitutional monarchy • Presidential republic

Dependent territory – areas in world too small or too weak to govern itself • Larger country governs it. British Virgin Islands
