The ALUW Salary Compression Study committee will examine UW librarians‘ salary data and data about individual positions to determine whether and where compression exists, and to recommend appropriate remedies. In carrying out its charge, the committee will: select a technique(s) for analysis, for example, regression analysis or comparison ratio; select peer groups for comparison in addition to ARL libraries; examine the effect, if any, of faculty status versus non-faculty status on librarian salaries; consult all available data, working closely with the AORP; compile a report of the committee's findings, including any recommendations or strategies to redress compression. Kudos! from Betsy and other librarians • I echo your kudos to the committee for their extraordinary work in addressing an extraordinarily complex issue. The analytical abilities displayed in the committee's work are impressive. • I would also like to acknowledge and thank Charles Chamberlin for his stewardship of library salaries. He has worked creatively and purposefully to manage our salary data and structure within a complex and often constrained fiscal environment. • Outstanding report. • It's a great reality check.
