  2. How is technology affecting your relationships? • John 13:1-17 • “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:34-35).

  3. Three ways technology is changing the way we relate to people. • The term “friend” is evolving. • We are addicted to immediate affirmation. • We have the power to do friendships on our own terms.

  4. God designed us for real relationships. • “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds” (Hebrews 10:24). • “…not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching” (Hebrews 10:25). • We are not to neglect our meeting together. Jesus said, “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them” (Matthew 18:20).

  5. God designed us for real relationships. • “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved” (Acts 2:42-48).

  6. God designed us for real relationships. • “About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose” (Acts 16:25-26). • Nehemiah 8:1-12

  7. Two practical steps to improve the quality of your relationships. • Get together with people. “Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them” (Romans 12:9 NLT). • Be emotionally connected. “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins” (I Peter 4:8).

  8. If you have a cell phone, please turn it off or put it in silent mode so it will not be a distraction.

  9. Don’t just “like” what people post, like who they are. • “Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth” (I John 3:18).
