  2. Infest The shark infested water is dangerous. (adjective) If insects or animals infest a place they are there in large numbers and usually cause damage. Cockroaches might infest your kitchen if you don’t clean up your dirty dishes.

  3. Delicate If something is done in a delicate way it is done with great care so that nothing is broken or hurt. The delicate arch looks like it could crumble from the smallest of wind storms. (adjective) The pianist’s fingers delicately moved up and down the keyboard. (adverb)

  4. Flexible Something is flexible if it can bend or be bent easily. The flexible gymnast could easily touch his feet to his head. (adjective)

  5. bond A bond is a feeling or interest that unites two or more people or groups. The girls bonded over their shared love of art and painting. (verb) The girls developed a bond as they worked on their art project. (noun)

  6. inspires If something inspires you, it makes you excited about doing something good. When Mr. and Mrs. Glass saw the effects of the forest fire, they became inspired to help rebuild the once tree-filled forest. (verb) Seeing people help others inspires me to help too. (verb) Mr. Glass gave an inspirational speech about the importance of protecting the environment. (adjective)

  7. Preserve To preserve something is to keep it from being harmed or damaged. The strawberries are well preserved in syrup. (verb) Items are placed in museums To preserve them.

  8. Intervals Our teacher has us practice math facts in intervals of 10 minutes. To train for the race, the runners ran 8 200m intervals around the track. Repeated over and over with a certain amount of time in between.

  9. Unique Something is unique if it is the only one of its kind. Each of us is unique and special in our own way. (adjective)
