Canfor-S • Canfor-S • Lesson plan • Thinking about the questions/discussion: • Question; “thinking about the principles of recovery how does Canfor-S needs assessment help build and meaningful and satisfying life?” • Answer/Discussion; “it allows services users to express their opinion” and “helps us (practitioners) to understand what is important to them”
Continued • Q; “does Canfor-S help you encourage family/carers involvement (to support service users recovery)?” • A/D; “It would be good to ask the carers to score a Canfor-S it might give us some more information or another insight especially at the beginning or end of a services users stay in our service”
Continued • Q; “Thinking about your role as the ‘professional’ does Canfor-S help you reconsider what your role is?” • A/D; “I think completing this assessment together will help me, as primary nurse, to understand what he (service user) really needs instead of what we (health care professionals) think he needs”. “I observed my mentor completing this assessment with a service user and it was a surprise to hear their ‘sexual expression’ was not being met – no one had thought it was important but actually when they started talking it explained a lot about how he had responded to particular staff. I was impressed they started to discuss how this could be met and it was a significant part of the CPA discussions”
