The Law of Threes: composition • Foreground • Middle Distance/Middle Ground • Background
Foreground • fore·ground • part that appears nearest: the part of a picture or scene that appears nearest the viewer • currently receiving commands: currently receiving commands, usually through the keyboard, while other programs are operating independently • highlight something: to put something in an important position and so draw attention to it
Middle Distance/Middle Ground Middle Distance • The area between the foreground and background in a painting, drawing, or photograph. Also called middle ground.
Background • The ground or scenery located behind something. • The part of a pictorial representation that appears to be in the distance and that provides relief for the principal objects in the foreground. • The general scene or surface against which designs, patterns, or figures are represented or viewed. • A position or area of relative inconspicuousness or unimportance.
