STAR Standardized Testing and Reporting • Administered Grades (2-8), 9, 10, 11 • CAPA (California Alternate Performance Assessment) • Administered to severely handicapped students • CMA (California Modified Assessment) • Administered to qualifying special education students • STS (Standards Based Tests in Spanish) • Administered to Spanish-speaking English learners who have been in a U.S. school for less than 12 months • CST (California Standards Test) • Administered to the remaining student population
CMA California Modified Assessment • New exam at secondary level • CMA was piloted at elementary and middle schools and in 2 subjects last year for high schools • CMA expands in high schools this spring • English: Grades 9-11 • Science: NCLB: Grade 10 • Math: Algebra I, Geometry: Grades 9-11 • Participation Criteria • Student must have an IEP • Student must have taken the CST and scored Below Basic or Far Below Basic in the subject the CMA is being offered in • Student may have used accommodations on the prior CST exam • Student may have taken CAPA Level 2-5 and scored Proficient or Advanced for two years • Notes: • Students may not take both the CAPA and CMA • Students may take a combination of CMA and CST
