Personal Statement Bethany Covington “You can never be overdressed or overeducated.” -Oscar Wilde “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” -Nelson Mandela
Reasons for Wanting to Teach I want to help foster the development of students and a love learning. I can’t wait to be able to see “the lights come on” on a daily basis. I want to be able to make a difference in children’s lives and let them know they have at least one person they can trust and come to for guidance. Personally, I will enjoy the continual opportunities for learning and growth.
Effective Teacher Traits I keep an open-mind so that I can easily adapt to new and unexpected obstacles. Teachers are in a constant state of change so I try to remain flexible and patient. I’m very innovative. I will love finding ways to get the students engaged in the classroom. I’m committed to furthering the education of students. I’m very enthusiastic about teaching, and I hope that will one day show to my student.
Student & Community Characteristics Motivated students, but also students who need to be motivated. Ask questions. Get Involved. Want to learn. Community Involvement and Support
Contributions to the Profession I believe teachers are professional learners as teaching is at the heart of everything we do. Constantly learning new knowledge and creating new ideas to share with other teachers and the community is just part of what teaching is. Attending conferences, seminars, and taking online classes will be a part of everything I do to assist in the continual development of myself, my students, the community and my fellow teacher.
