  1. A real time online assessment system with modelized architecture on clinical infometrics for patient reported outcomes of prostate cancer H.-C. Lin, et al. Comput. Methods Programs Biomed 2010

  2. Introduction • It isworthwhile to design an automatic system with flexible functionalities for immediately responding QOL assessments with clinical markers • An electronic healthcare information with CDSS is quite important for clinicians to efficiently obtain instant and reliable patient report outcomes

  3. Methods • Web-based platform to assess the QOL of cancer patients • EORTC QOL assessments • QLQ C30 – core module • PR25 – for prostate cancer

  4. System Architecture

  5. Data Flow

  6. System Development

  7. System Development • The database layer founds the system base for building clinical and infometrix data warehouse • The analysis layer assists researchers in analyzing data and feeding back statistical results as resources of knowledge bank • The management layer plays the role of control center for managing data flow within entire system

  8. System Development • The presentation layer yields the platform of real time decision support to provide communication interface between patients and clinicians • The acquisition layer becomes the data receiver of system to react online QLQ behind accessibility interface design

  9. Practiced progress

  14. Discussions • Real time informetrix categories for patients - The best prac- tice of the developed system should be applied for patients whose disease can be chronically and periodically tracked by specified clinical markers • Users’ experiences on system operation - 92% of users approved the innovative setup and newtechnical design • Improvement in clinician–patients relationships - It confirms that the web-based individual QOL assessment through the real time clinical infometrix system with immediate outcomes to improve clinician- patients relationships is possible and feasible

  15. Conclusions • This study revealed the progression of the clinical info- metrics system with the novel information technology to establishfundamentals of real time online analysis anddecision support on the modelized architecture. • the patient outcome was available to offerinstant statistical charts for decision making as well as improved communica- tionandrelationship between clinicians and patients
