Real Life • In the supreme court case Bennis v. Michigan (1996) it was ruled that a persons home or car could be forfeited even if the unaware it was connected to illegal activity
What happens Next • After property is forfeited the government has several options • Sell the property (money will go the go to the state and federal government)] • Keep for use for crime fighting • Award to a third party
