Farming Techniques: Part 2 Shelter Belt: a line of trees to block wind and prevent erosion Stubble Mulching: soil covering composed of unused stalks of crops/plants. It can prevent erosion and conserve soil moisture Terracing: Creating ditches or ridges that create level areas on the sides of hills Contour Farming: Plowing and planting crops around hills or the natural shape of the field.
Terms Levee: an embankment to prevent the flooding of a river Delta: Triangle shaped mouth (end) of a river Tideland: land alternately submerged and exposed by ocean tides Peninsula: Land surrounded by water on all but one side
