Assessments • Rubric to assess level of interaction in Spanish conversation with peers. • Appropriate grammar • Speaking – rubric to assess grammar • Writing – rubric to assess grammar in written assignment • Translation Exam – English to Spanish • Translation Exam – Spanish to English
Criterion • At least 70% total score on rubric • Grammar • At least 70% on speaking rubric assessing grammar • At least 70% on rubric assessing written assignment • At least 70% on translation exams
Conversion of Points • Overall – 70 points – 70% = 49 points • Grammar – 30 points – 70% = 21 points

Rubric Advantages • Improve student performance - clearly shows student how work will be evaluated and what is expected • Rubrics help students become better judges of quality of own work • Allow assessment to be more objective and consistent • Force instructor to clarify criteria in specific terms
