Project rationale and objectives • In DPR Korea, various actions for technology needs assessment were conducted through project for preparation of Second National Communication on climate change, but apparent success has not been achieved due to following barriers; • Barrier 1: lack of skilled personnel • Barrier 2: lack of outside experience • Barrier 3: lack of methodology • Barrier 4: limited institutional capacity • Objective of the project is to confirm the priorities of domestic technical projects on the basis of climate change concerned technology needs assessment, and to provide legally friendly environment for climate change concerned technology transfer.

  3. Expected Outcomes • Skilled Personnel with technology needs assessment related to EST on climate change in different sectors of the national economy. • Establishment of technology needs assessment methodology. • Technology Needs Assessment Report.

  4. Planned activities to achieve outcomes 1. Establishment of technology needs assessment methodology and data collection. • Overall data survey. • Choosing technologies to fit country’s situation • Exchange of experiencesin other countries 2. Technology needs assessment and identification of priorities • Expert survey, AHP, SWOT • Cross cutting analysis of technology needs • Identifying of priorities

  5. Estimated budget • GEF: 200,000 US$ • Co-financing:300,000 US$ • Total: 500,000 US$ • Government: 100,000 US$( in kind)
