  2. Mobile Money Market - Tanzania Tanzania mobile money market is very dynamic, having four major players who are highly competitive. The Bank of Tanzania (BOT) remains actively involved in shaping the mobile money market in collaboration with strategic partners within the industry circle. Tanzania has 31.8M registered mobile money accounts (2013).

FCC Initiatives • Education and awareness campaign Commission spearhead the dissemination of knowledge related to mobile payment and cyber crimes threats to the general public. • On-line consumer transactions initiatives Electronic Transaction Bill 2013, Data Protection Bill 2013, Computer and Cyber Crime Bill 2013 and Mobile Payment Regulations 2013. • Market surveillance plan During 2014/2015 Commission will carry out country wide surveillance in the industry.

Recommendations • Joint efforts between strategic partners, experts and government should be explored to make Africa a safer place for the Information Communication Technology (ICT). • Efforts to educate consumer on the risks associated with online electronic transactions should be strengthened.
