3. Story Grammar Story grammar is the structure of fiction. In our culture the structure of fiction usually has the following components: a setting, a character or characters, events, a problem the character has or a goal the character is trying to achieve, and the solution to the problem or information telling if the goal was achieved or not.
4. Story Grammar as a Postreading Activity After the guided reading has been completed, the teacher has the students identify the elements in fiction.
Teachers either give a copy to each student or the teacher uses a large, laminated story grammar poster on the wall and the activity is done with the students as a group.
