Meeting Basic Needs • Consider this: • How does the social institution of education meet basic needs? • How does religion meet basic needs?
Create a Skit • In a group, create a skit (no longer than 3-minutes) that demonstrates your understanding of the assigned social institution. • Your skit should incorporate how your social institution • Meets basic needs • Statuses associated with that institution • Some values and norms that are a part of that institution
Discussion Questions • How might the social institution of family be found in every other social institution? What purpose would family play in other social institutions? • How do we learn how to interact with each social institution? • How might the function of social institutions change or not change in a socialist society? • What role would power and authority play in the organization of social institutions? In other words, who holds the power?
