IPv6 Stateless Address Autoconfiguration • During system startup, generating a link-local address (FE80:: ), this will be a “tentative” address • Verify the “tentative” address by using Duplicate Address (DAD) and then join the all-nodes multicast group(FF02::1)to send NS and join the solicited-node multicast group (FF02:0:0:0:0:1:FF00::/104) to wait for NA • If host hasn’t receive the NA, then it is unique • Assign the “tentative” address to the interface Confidential
IPv6 Stateless Address Autoconfiguration • Obtain an RA or send RS to all-routers mulitcast group(FF02::2) to get the stateless address auto configuration information • Generate global addresses via stateless address auto configuration information • Repeat the DAD procedure to verify the uniqueness of the addresses on a link.
