  3. Precipitation • The average rainforest gets around 250 cm a year • The constant warm air holds a lot of water vapor causing it to be humid year round

  5. Amount of light The plants near the top (like the canopy area) get more sunlight, they spread their leaves out to absorb more. The bottom plants get little to no sunlight, they have adapted to be able to receive nutrients from just rain water and not sunlight.

  6. Air quality • The air is very polluted in most rain forest • Areas. • Air pollution is damaging critical rainforests. Rainforests act as pollution • sinks -- a process by which greenhouse gas is removed from the atmosphere -- by soaking up carbon dioxide and neutralizing it. Greenhouse gases are stored there and are released back into the atmosphere to further contribute to global warming.

  7. Nutrient levels • 52% of nutrients are in the vegetation, while only 48% are in the soil. • Weathering and torrential rain have washed most of the nutrients away.
