WYSIWYG Editor • Easily manipulate layout • Easily insert multimedia • Make a single copy of the media and save to a central repository (media server), giving you the ability to use the media files in different Blackboard courses without duplicating the file
Assist in the effort to distribute the load on servers • Blackboard 6 has a course size limitation Where to Store Multimedia Files Blackboard server Streaming server Media server webmedia.unmc.edu my.unmc.edu hog.unmc.edu Image files & PowerPoint files >5MB Streamed audio & video files Image, PowerPoint, Acrobat, Flash, audio & video files <5MB
When to Use WYSIWYG Guidelines (.jpg, .gif,.pdf and .ppt files) • Optimize files = image files should not exceed ~32K • Can be saved as a streamed format • Cumulative file size exceeds5 Megabytes = save on media server • Includes: video, audio, .pdf and PowerPoint files
Enhancements to BB 6.1 • Gradebook View • The Gradebook View page includes links that show the Users in the Gradebook or the Items in the Gradebook. This is used for locating and modifying information in courses with a large number of users or a large number of Gradebook items. This is a tool for quick searching in the Gradebook.
Enhancements to BB 6.1 Assessment Workflow • Force Completion. If the Force Completion option is selected by the Instructor, students must complete the Assessment the first time it is launched. The status of multiple attempts (if allowed) is displayed to the student at the top of the Assessment. • If the Submit button is selected and the student has left some questions blank, a warning message will appear stating which questions have not been answered. • Navigational arrows appear for Assessments set to display questions one at a time, unless backtracking is prohibited.
