  1. Em Setembro de 2009, em Haia, a candidatura portuguesa promovida pela EPAL e pela CNAIA foi eleita a melhor da Europa em competição com as candidaturas de Bruxelas, Dublin, Istambul e Genebra. • Assim, o congresso mundial da IWA de 2014 será realizado em Lisboa com o tema “Encontrar Soluções para Assegurar o Futuro”. • Trata-se do maior evento mundial no setor, prevendo-se cerca de 4000 participantes, oriundos de todo o mundo, com quase uma vintena de sessões em simultâneo.

É a primeira vez que o Congresso Mundial decorre em Portugal. • A comunidade técnica portuguesa deve naturalmente sentir-lhe orgulhosa desse facto, pois isso constitui também um reconhecimento internacional do trabalho que tem vindo a fazer. • Representa a oportunidade perfeita para debatermos os problemas e desafios do sector da água a nível internacional. • Estão todos convidados a serem participantes ativos neste grande evento internacional.

Qual o calendário? • 28 to 25 Months - Preparation of congress artwork “look” • 24 Months September - First announcement flyer distributed • 22 Months November - Venue contract signed • 21 Months December - Website goes live • 19 Months February - Develop marketing plan • 17 Months April - Exhibition prospectus distributed, exhibition sales commence, call for proposals distributed, accomodationbookings open, request quotation from DMC • 15 Months June - Draft budgets completed • 13 Months August - Call for papers closes 15th • 12 Months September - DMC appointed, determine social event venues, budgets finalised • 11 Months October - Exhibitor earlybird closes • 9 Months December - Detail technical tours

  6. 8 Months January - Keynote speakers confirmed • 7 Months February - Final programme committee planning meeting, registration brochure artwork commences, detail social functions, detail sightseeing tours • 5 Months April - Online registration commences, registration brochure printed, Work commences with media/press • 4 Months May - Final copy ( 100 words & contact details) from exhibitors for catalogue • 3 Months June - Earlybird & presenter, registration closes, volunteer applications close, Water21 June issue insert registration brochure, programmebook artwork commences, final venue visit to finalise: signage, room use, catering, audio visual • 2 Months July - Programme book artwork, production signage, volunteers notified of selection • 1 Month August - Finalise running sheets for special events, print programmebook, produce USB of proceedings, satchets • 0 Month September - Event
