  3. Introduction Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise – the fruit of lips that openly profess his name. Heb 13:15 We need to look at another sacrifice first. 3

Sacrifice of the Lord 11 The high priest carries the blood of animals into the Most Holy Place as a sin offering, but the bodies are burned outside the camp. 12 And so Jesus also suffered outside the city gate to make the people holy through his own blood. v11-12 • Sacrifice…oncefor all (Heb 7:27) 4

  5. Sacrifice of Lips ‘Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise – the fruit of lips that openly profess his name.’ v15 “Be careful to do everything I have said to you. Do not invoke the names of other gods; do not let them be heard on your lips.” Ex 23:13 5

  6. Sacrifice of Lips • ‘From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise..’ Ps 8:2 • Psalm 34:1 • Psalm 51:15 • Psalm 63:3,5 • Psalm 71:23 • Psalm 119:171 • Hosea 14:2 ‘offer the fruit of our lips’ 6

  7. Sacrifice of Life ‘And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.’ v16 “ ‘These people honour me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.” Matt 15:8 Romans 12:1 7
