  2. Punctuation -Notes • Punctuation helps us form sentences in order to make sense. • There are different types of Punctuation that one can use.

  3. Examples of punctuation: • Capital Letters : used for names, titles, places and to start a sentence. • Example 1. Can I go to Sliema? • Example 2. The story of Rapunzel. • Full stop:used at the end of sentences and for some abbreviations. • Example 1. Ms. Sylvia is a teacher.

  4. Question mark “?” : used at the end of questions. • Example 1. Can I help you? • Example 2. What is your name? • Exclamation Mark “!”: used for expressions. • Example 1. Wow! What a nice dress you have! • Example 2. How rude you are! • Example 3. Go clean the dishes!

  5. Comma “,”: used to separate a list of items in a sentence and to insert a pause in a sentence. • Example 1. I love eating muffins, cakes and doughnuts. • Example 2. Although I studied, I didn’t know everything. • Open and closed inverted commas “ ”: used to say something in a direct speech. • Example 1. “What are you doing?”, I asked. • Example 2. “How old are you?”, asked John.
