What is Dual Enrollment Credit? It is defined as programs that allow opportunities for high school students to take courses from a postsecondary institution while still enrolled as a high school student and receive credit at both the high school and postsecondary institution.

ACCEL • Program consist of college level (academic-only, degree-level) coursework • Be a legal resident in GA • Primarily available for juniors and seniors, in limited cases also ninth and tenth graders • Must apply and be accepted at an eligible postsecondary institution • May enroll full time (12-15 semester hours) or part time • Courses can be taken during or after school • Courses will not count against the Hope Scholarship hours
ACCEL cont. • The ACCEL application and the course directory are currently posted on GAcollege411.org on the ACCEL program page. • ACCEL courses cannot be taken during the summer. • Only courses on the GADOE approved dual enrollment list can be used for high school credit.
ACCEL Enrollment Process • Student must apply, be accepted and meet post secondary institution requirements • Student completes the student section of the ACCEL application on-line • High school counselor completes the high school section of the application • College representative completes the post secondary section
Eligible ACCEL Colleges/Universities • Any University System of Georgia college/university • Any Technical College System of Georgia college • Some private nonprofit and private for-profit colleges that meet specific requirements
Associate of Arts ACCEL Programs of Study • Bainbridge State College- Associate of Arts with a concentration in Sciences - program will consist of hybrid AP/College coursework • Thomas University- Associate of Arts in Liberal Studies
Dual Hope Grant • For students in grades 9-12 seeking technical certificates or diplomas from Technical College System of Georgia postsecondary options • Must meet the dual enrollment guidelines and postsecondary institution requirements • May attend full (12 semester hours) or part-time • Does not count against Hope hours
Articulated Credit An articulation agreement is established by institutions to aid in a seamless transition without repetition of coursework already mastered in high school. Student will successfully pass a designed assessment to receive credit at the postsecondary level.

Move on When Ready High School Juniors and Seniors satisfy high school graduation requirements while enrolled full-time at a postsecondary institution.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR MOWR? • High school juniors or seniors seeking a high school diploma from an eligible, public Georgia high school. • Must have spent the prior school year in attendance at a public high school in Georgia.
ACCEL vs. MOWR ACCEL MOWR • Must be full-time at the college • Academic, Electives and CTAE Courses • Hours do not count toward HOPE • Students can participate in all competitive and extra-curricular activities in grades 9-12. • Can be part-time or full-time at the college • Academic Courses only • Hours do not count toward HOPE • Students can participate in all competitive and extra-curricular activities in grades 9-12.
MOWR Enrollment Process • Interested students need to consult with HS Counselor to determine eligibility. • Eligible student and parent meet with HS Counselor to complete MOWR paperwork. • MOWR Participation Permission form is sent to the postsecondary institution. • Student completes admission process at postsecondary institution. • Student is notified by the postsecondary institution of acceptance.

Credit Conversion Became effective July 1, 2010… Rule 160-4-2-.34 for credit conversion for coursework taken at a post-secondary institution Semester Hours 1 – 2 semester hours = .5 Carnegie unit 3 to 5 semester hours = 1 Carnegie unit
