  2. the AVDS will statistically evaluate the Aquarius SSS data product using a global set of in situ salinity measurements (e.g., Argos buoys) the rationale for the data exchange is to streamline this activity by using preexisting ADPS hardware, software, and satellite data processing facilities thereby eliminating the redundant effort of developing parallel facilities a data exchange simulation is underway using in situwater temperature measurements and the MODIS-Aqua 11-m SST data product
