What others with IDX are doing for emailing reports to referrings.

What others with IDX are doingfor emailing reports to referrings We’re emailing a select few referrings who have requested it – all others are faxed. Our Operations group isn’t very comfortable with the approach because while there is a certain trust that faxes ALWAYS get through, there is no way to know for certain (in their mind) that an email got where it was supposed to go. We encrypt outbound reports using a product from Zix; it’s an appliance that sits on our edge. IDX supports emailing natively (just won’t do the encryption piece). Regards, R Todd Thomas Chief Information Officer Austin Radiological Association We currently only fax.We looked into secure email. RIS-IC does support PGP encryption for email. We looked into it but getting providers to have PGP clients on their side was a real bear. What I mean by that is we could get it to work with 1-2 providers but thought it might be hard to scale.I had someone (a consultant) tell me that we could email unencrypted but I would need a legal memo telling me that before I would do that.Sincerely,James Whitfill, M.D. | CIOScottsdale Medical Imaging| Affiliated with Southwest Diagnostic Imaging, LTD We are not emailing and only faxing upon request. Hand delivery and mail are our sources as of today. Queens Medical Center Kathy Sugai
