E N D
Indicators • MUAC should be added to all small scale surveys • WAZ and HAZ should be reported in small scale surveys if age is verifiable eg immunisation cards • For surveillance sites, recommend MUAC is sufficient for monitoring trends (cost, training easier etc), although other data/indicators can be added in if sufficient resources
Recommend continued research in use of MUAC and its relation to mortality and programme usage Recommend standardization of MUAC cut-offs (both for trend monitoring and programme admission) Recommend the indicators chosen for surveillance should also be harmonized with those used in any response ??GM
Recommend ensure we do nto overload health workers and to only collect data that will be used; also a need to coordinate with other actors eg WFP, WHO Recommend data is collected by livelihood zone (SAM, GAM, MUAC) and that baseline information is established for populations Recommend focus on % point change not absolute figures from surveys, in context of seasonality
If collecting additional information in small scale surveys questions should be standardised (international recommendations for questions) Recommend that additional information collected does not duplicate and strengthens other information routinely collected Recommend to develop guidelines on interpretation of the standardised questionnaire indicators
