Mark S. Hemstreet founded the Shilo Inn Suites hotel chain in 1974 at age twenty-four. Today, Shilo Inns has twenty-three properties and nearly 3,000 rooms while employing over 1,000 people in the Western United States. As a young man, Mr. Hemstreet cherished a vision of developing the largest independent hospitality company in the Western United States. He started solidifying plans for the dream after graduating from Beaverton High School in 1968 while he put through two years of college at Portland State University.
