  1. Mark Hemstreet – Successful Hotelier From a young age, Mark Hemstreet dreamed of developing the largest and finest independent hospitality company in the Western United States. After graduating from Beaverton High School in 1968, Mark Hemstreet spent two years studying at Portland State College. After leaving college, his hard work and perseverance helped to bring his dream to fruition, with the opening of the first Shilo Inn, located near the Portland Oregon International Airport. Over the next several years, Mark Hemstreet, with his hard work, expanded his dream by opening a total of 47 Shilo Inns, including 25 restaurants, throughout the Western United States. Today, there are 14 company owned Shilo Inns plus 6 Shilo Franchised properties, totaling 20 Shilo Inn Suites properties and 13 restaurant facilities located in six western states, as well as an award-winning deluxe 160 All Suites Shilo hotel in Killeen, Texas.
