  2. 2009 Reading TAKS First Administration: District Level Met Standard Results • Summary results from the first administration of the Reading exam in grades 3, 5, and 8: • All AEIS student groups indicators are above the Met Standard passing requirement. • Most of the AEIS student groups indicators are above 80%. • All student groups in grades 3, 5, and 8 improved at the Met Standard level. • In the All Students Tested category, the overall passing rate was 80.4%. • Most improved areas included: • Grade 8 Special Education students with a 12.3% increase • Grade 3 LEP students with 7.9% increase

  3. 2009 Reading TAKS First Administration: District Level Commended Results • Summary results from the first administration of the Reading exam in grades 3, 5, and 8: • Commended rates increased for all student groups in grade 3. • Commended rates increased for 6/7 student groups in grade 5 (Special education -0.6%). • Commended rates at the 8th grade level are the highest overall, but did not show gains between 2008 and 2009, with the exception of +2.0% for African American Students and +1.0% for Special Education students. • In the All Students Tested category, the commended passing rate was up 5%. • Significant improvement in commended areas include: • Grade 3 LEP students with 15.0% increase (This is the first year of TAKS testing for dual language students.) • Grade 3 African American students with a 10.2% increase.
