    2. Southeastern Correctional Ministry, Inc OUR HISTORY SCM is a non-profit faith based corporation chartered pursuant to the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia. The work began in July 1981 with two persons conducting a Bible Study for inmates at the Nansemond Correctional Unit. The ministry has expanded to 22 Institutions in S.E. Virginia with more than 150 volunteers. SCM represents more than 5,000 inmates and see every facility as a mission field.

    3. Southeastern Correctional Ministry, Inc OUR VISION To set the captive free spiritually through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. MISSION STATEMENT Southeastern Correctional Ministry is a Christian Inter-denominational Evangelical outreach to men, women and youth involved in the correctional process.

    4. Southeastern Correctional Ministry, Inc OUR PURPOSE To Evangelize Present a clear message of God’s love and grace. Help inmates understand God’s plan of salvation. Provide inmates opportunity to receive Christ as their personal savior. Help the inmates with their walk with God.

    5. Southeastern Correctional Ministry, Inc OUR PURPOSE Teach The Bible Distribute Bibles and other Christian literature. Conduct weekly Bibles Studies. Enroll students in correspondence Bible Courses. Encourage personal devotions and witnessing.

    6. Southeastern Correctional Ministry, Inc OUR PURPOSE Provide Biblical Counseling Encourage inmates with a sound Biblical perspective on life. Help inmates with personal issues that can only be changed with God’s help and wisdom. Help the inmate deal with past failures and hurts. “Failure does not have to be final”

    7. Southeastern Correctional Ministry, Inc OUR PURPOSE Prayer Support Encourage inmates to share their needs. Pray with inmates. Have inmates pray for each other. Share testimonies of answered prayer.

    8. Southeastern Correctional Ministry, Inc OUR SUPPORT SCM is supported through tax-deductible contributions from churches, civic organizations, businesses and individuals. SCM does not receive funds from any government agencies. All funds are accounted properly to insure the highest integrity and are monitored by a Certified Public Accountant.

    9. Southeastern Correctional Ministry, Inc HOW CAN I HELP? Pray for the ministry of SCM. Allow us to come to your church or organization and share the ministry. Consider becoming a volunteer with SCM. Include SCM in your church or organization budget.

    10. Southeastern Correctional Ministry, Inc CLOSING Hebrews 13:3 “Remember the prisoners as if chained with them….” Matthew 25:40 “Jesus said, I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”
