  3. Walk your way to health • Reach and maintain a healthy weight • Prevent or manage heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure • Increase energy • Improve muscle tone • Improve balance and coordination • Cope with stress and lift your mood

  4. The Goal:walk at least5,000 stepsper day at least 3 days each week.

  5. Data can motivate us • Number of Steps • Time Spent Walking or Running • Calories Used • Frequency • Measuring Progress Using Your Goals • Challenges with Other Employees (optional)

  6. Most pedometers work by using a simple pendulum method of counting steps. Any slight moving causes the pendulum to swing and count a step. • The FitKIKActiped pedometer measures foot contact time with the ground. Using this information and patented algorithms it determines distance traveled, calories burned, activity time, and the number of steps you take.

  7. How are my steps reported? • Wireless access points are installed in City Hall, the Personnel Building, the Goode Building, Courts and Police Headquarters. • Walk within 100 - 200 feet of an access point wearing your pedometer and your data will be uploaded to your FitKIK webpage.

  8. How do I seemy data? • You’ll receive instructions with your pedometer to set up a user ID and password. • For your user ID, we recommend that you use your first initial and last name. This helps identify you if you win or place in any challenges or win any prizes! fitkik.fit4phoenix.org

  9. Rewards • 5,000 – 9,999 steps 3 or more dayseach week • Beginning in January 2014 • The 1st Tuesday of every month is your deadline to send an email to be.healthy@phoenix.gov to enter yourself in the drawing for the previous month. • Subject Example: December Drawing 057479 • Month – Drawing – Employee ID # Mark your calendar to remind yourself about the monthly deadline.

  10. Rewards • 5,000 – 9,999 steps 3 or more dayseach week • Beginning in January 2014 • Five names will be drawn each month to receive a $50 gift card to Sprouts, Whole Foods, Sports Authority or REI. • Names of winners will be posted on the Fit4Phoenix webpage and announced in City Connection. • Winners will need to provide their FitKIK screen prints to show they qualify for the prize. Mark your calendar to remind yourself about the monthly deadline.

MILESTONES • Let us know by email at be.healthy@phoenix.gov when you reach these milestones: • 100,000 steps • 200,000 steps • 500,000 steps • 750,000 steps • You’ll qualify for a certificate, recognition in City Connection and a prize!
