  1. Offset Equations sorted according to offsets ; Larger offsets  smaller pt ; Taking away equations with larger offsets at each time  inefficiencies at lower pt ; not very sharp turn-on. Pt Find the average pt for each equation from its max./min.; Equations sorted according to pt; Taking away equations with lower pt by inspection  inefficiencies at lower pt sharper turn-on. Efficiency-pt turn-on curve, offset & pt • MC Simulation using UPG_GEANT with muons • Study for the pttrigger thresholds in L1 (CFTTM) using two different algorithms • Only the factor of track equations (roads) is considered here MSU, Oct. 1998

  2. Track binning • By offset ( in terms of fibers ) MSU, Oct. 1998

  3. PT binning yields sharper turn-on than offset binning MSU, Oct. 1998

  4. L1 CFT binning complications • >16000 CFT track equations for each Front-End Board ( 4.5° sector ) in probably 16 tracking PLD’s ; • No. of equations within a range of ptµ1/pt • a lower pt bin/threshold has many more equations ! • Assuming 4 pt bins, it’d be nice if each group of PLD can accommodate one pt bin/threshold ; but • ~half of the equations needed for PLD’s in the lowest pt bin, •  Too many ! • Leave no flexibility for future change. MSU, Oct. 1998

  5. MSU, Oct. 1998

  6. 1st Pt bin 2nd Pt bin 3rd Pt bin 4th Pt bin MSU, Oct. 1998

  7. Undecided ? I pick pt thresholds for the L1 trigger counts ( not directly related to L2 etc. ) as (1) 1.5 - 3 GeV (2) 3 - 5 GeV (3) 5 - 10 GeV (4) > 10 GeV MSU, Oct. 1998
