  2. 1- Visit the Doctor • A woman should visit her doctor before she becomes pregnant to make sure that she is health. • Visit the doctor if she suspects that she is pregnant. • Visits should be monthly until the 7th month, then every 2 weeks. • During the last month of pregnancy, visits will be weekly.

  3. 2- Eat Healthy!

  4. FolicAcid Pre-Natal Vitamins

  5. CaffeineLimit these beverages…. Heavy caffeine consumption has been linked to miscarriage and reduced birth weight.

  6. 3- Exercise

  7. DO NOT---use Jacuzzis, hot tubs, or saunas. Elevated body temperatures may increase the risk of birth defects of the brain & spinal cord.

  8. 4- Rest • Too much stress may increase the risk of pre-term labor, low birth weight, and miscarriage

  9. 5- Practice Safety • Always wear a seat belt! • Minimize exposure to chemicals such as paint, cleansers, insect repellent. • As a woman’s belly gets bigger, it makes balance more difficult, making it easier to fall.

  10. 6- Say No to Alcohol! • When a pregnant woman drinks alcohol, her baby does too. • Fetal alcohol syndrome is the leading most preventable cause of mental retardation.

  11. 7- Don’t Smoking!

  12. 8- Don’t do Drugs! • Cocaine increases the risk of birth defects, miscarriage, and pre-term labor. • Certain prescription drugs can cause birth defects. • The doctor should always know about any medications the mother is taking.
