  3. Rising action:Ebon slips into a coma and enters a whole new world. An angelic figure escorts him through this beautiful world. He learns from her that he is loved, he has nothing to fear, and there is nothing that he can do wrong” (p.41)

  4. Rising ActionEben enters into the earthworm’s core. He encounters an understanding of God, truth and love like never before. Physical Spiritual

  5. Climax- Eben awakens physically and spiritually .

  6. Resolution- Ebon reads other NDE stories and is frustrated that is guide wasn’t a relative. He realizes his guide was his biological sister that he never met on earth. The Photograph • “But now there was no mistaking the loving smile, the confident and infinitely comforting look, the sparkling blue eyes. It was she. For an instant, our worlds met. My world here on earth, where I was a doctor, a father and a husband” (p.168).

  7. Theme: Life is about love, who we are and how connected we all are- it’s the very meaning of all existence. “There are only two ways to live your life. One as though nothing is a miracle. The other as if everything is. (Albert Einstein).

Development of the theme He illustrates the significance of life and God’s unconditional love for all through the images that he describes in heaven an on earth: • Blooming flowers as he soars • Science- explanation p.150 • He develops the theme through his experiences. His journey represents his spiritual awakening and purpose-driven life.
