Tech-based Approaches Tech-based reading tools, materials, and approaches can be used to: • Increase access to print and content • Create supportive materials • Foster engagement • Support reading achievement (word recognition, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension)
Research shows that Text-to-Speech: • Promotes access to text for wide reading • Contributes to word recognition • Provides a multisensory experience (hearing, seeing, subvocalizing) • Can be used to recreate the practice of repeated readings or neurological impress method (best accomplished with recorded human narration)
