College of Public Health Supervisor Orientation Purpose The Supervisor Orientation list provides new and/or existing supervisors with the tools needed to recruit and retain qualified applicants/employees.   3. Supervisor Orientation List Policies, Procedures, Laws and Regulations Employee Leave Information Human Resources Tool Kit (recommended course for new supervisors)
  4. Policies, Procedures, Laws and Regulations Each supervisor should be familiar with the policies, laws and regulations as it relates to our employees. Examples: Basic Code of conduct E-mail usage Leave of Absence The policies listed under the UAMS administrative guide may be reviewed at: http://www.uams.edu/AdminGuide/index.html
  5. Employee Leave Information Types of employee leave: Vacation Sick Children’s Education Leave Act (CEAL) Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) Specific details can also be reviewed at: http://uams.edu/AdminGuide/index.html#4.6
  6. Human Resources Tool Kit This workshop provides participants with information needed to enact UAMS’ most common human resource practices and procedures. Facilitated by HR representatives presenting information on topics such as Recruiting, Compensation, Leave Policies, Employee Services, Employee Assistance Program, Workers Compensation and Progressive Discipline Recommended for new supervisors, HR managers, and those wanting a refresher on these important HR topics.

Human Resources Roundtable 2012 Schedule The UAMS Office of Human Resources is conducting a series of Roundtables to provide human resources and department managers with information on HR issues. These round table sessions will be held on a monthly basis and will cover topics relevant to and requested by HR managers across UAMS.

  12. Hiring Employees If you are a new or existing supervisor and would like to hire new employees, COPH is required to go through a process inline with the main UAMS hiring system. Please review the process below:
  13. COPH HIRE FLOWCHART Faculty request for position recived by COPH-HR Forms provided to faculty to create position YES NO Is this paid from a grant? COPH-HR committee must approve Return to Faculty for Justification of need Send to UAMS Human Capitial committe for approval Submit to HR for creation and posting of position Applications pulled and submitted for review After review faculty chooes new hire and provides disposition codes for those not hired Equity tool for salary requested New hire paperwork submitted and hire process done by COPH-HR
