  1. Algebra 1 Mr. Booker Email: john.booker@ocps.net Phone: 407-956-8550 ext. 4508 Website: http://teacher.ocps.net/john.booker/ • Expectations: • You should: • * Follow all directions the first time they are given. • * Be prepared for class and have ALL material with you when you enter the room. • * Do your own work. • * Be responsible for understanding the material. • * BE RESPECTFUL. • * Follow all school rules. • Be ready to Learn!!! • I Will: • Provide and guide a variety of activities and explanations to enable students to increase their knowledge of mathematics. • * Grade and return papers as quickly as possible. • * Treat each student with courtesy and fairness and as individuals rather than just part of a class. • * Offer help to any student that requests it. • Be open to ideas from students pertaining to different aspects of this class. • Attendance / Tardy Policy: • East River High School expects that students will attend all day, everyday. • 1st Tardy – teacher warning • 2nd Tardy – parent contact • 3rd Tardy – teacher detention & parent contact • 4th Tardy and beyond – Referred to administration. • Daily Homework • Homework is normally given each class period. • Each homework assignment will be worth 5 points. • After bell work, students will have an opportunity to ask questions about their homework. I MAY COLLECT HOMEWORK RANDOMLY FOR A GRADE. • ZAP Program (Zeroes Aren’t Permitted):  This program is being implemented with three main goals; to improve your academic performance, to develop your sense of responsibility and to improve your study habits and to maintain home communication. It entails four steps. • Student fails to submit work on due date and at due time. Teacher notifies student he must submit work. • Student again fails to submit work. Teacher assigns student to ZAP. • Student will attend ZAP after school when assigned. (Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 to 4:00 pm in Media Center, no excuses) • ZAP teacher collects completed work and returns to assigning teacher. • Assigning teacher scores work for completion and quality and earns a minimum of 50% of the points. • Supplies Needed: • Notebook Paper, Pencils, Graph Paper Pad, Calculator, • Notebook, scissors, highlighter, pack of dividers • One pack of computer paper for the classroom • ***Since Algebra 1 requires an EOC Test, my expectations are for students to rise to the level of mastery (70% or higher) on Unit Tests, or remediation will be expected for the student to complete to prepare them for the EOC Test***
